Save a conversation from ChatGPT or Claude

A conversation Clip stores the visible user and assistant messages as an ordered thread rather than flattening them into a single note.

Save the current conversation

  1. In the conversation you want to keep, ask ChatGPT or Claude to save the conversation to Clipboard.
  2. Optionally provide a title and describe the portion that belongs in the saved thread.
  3. Review the confirmation. Clipboard saves visible user and assistant messages, not hidden prompts, private reasoning, or invisible tool traces.
  4. Open the Clip in the web app. Conversation Clips are marked with a thread icon and show each speaker in order.

Links back to the source

When the AI host provides a stable link to the current conversation, Clipboard can store that source link with the Clip. Use it to return to the original thread from the Clip detail view.

Not every host or conversation supplies a reusable source link. The saved transcript remains available in Clipboard even when no source link is present.

Edit a saved conversation

Choose Edit in the Clip detail view to change the title or transcript. Clipboard presents thread content as Markdown with You and Assistant headings, then converts it back into an ordered thread when you save.
